A small owl-like creature sits partway along a winding teal branch, looking back over one shoulder. Behind it the sky is a loose wash of turquoise with cloud in peach and lilac, painted soft against the hard-edged figure. Leaves in violet and green hang where the branch crosses the picture, and the branch itself keeps going, up and out of the frame.
The contrast is the point: a crisp, almost printed character set against weather that drifts. Daylight is rare in this body of work, and here it is used to make the figure look small and slightly out of place, as if it has landed somewhere it does not belong.
