A creature comes forward out of a night jungle, mouth open, marked in red along the brow and cheeks, with two round eyes that glow orange and green like lamps. Around it the undergrowth is painted in layers of blue, teal and violet: ferns, vines, a scatter of small white flowers on the left.
The whole picture sits in a narrow band of colour, so the eyes and the red markings do the work of a spotlight. It is the darkest painting here and one of the most detailed, and it keeps giving up new leaves the longer you look.
