Gilded Perch

The owl again, this time in green, sitting on a dark branch that winds through the whole picture. Around it the leaves come in orange, pink, lilac and lime, hanging in loose strands, and behind everything the ground is a flat, worked gold that reads as late afternoon light or as leaf metal depending on where you stand.

It is the warm companion to Perch: the same creature, the same branch, a different season. The figure is small and central and does not compete with the foliage, so the eye finds it second, after the colour.
