A dark bird lifts off near the top right of a golden canvas, wings spread, while a pale figure no bigger than a fingernail hangs from a tendril in the lower left. Between them the ground is a haze of yellow and olive with faint bamboo, fern and twisted branches drawn in a tone barely darker than the fog.
The two figures are placed at opposite corners so the eye travels the whole empty middle to get from one to the other. Companion to Climb.
