Bamboo Grin

A tiger's face fills the frame, teeth bared, painted in teal and green with pale lilac highlights against a screen of yellow-green bamboo. The eyes hold whole galaxies, small clouds of white and gold light set inside the black of each pupil. It is painted across three panels hung as one image.

Up close the marks are flat and graphic, like cut paper. From across a room the face resolves and the bamboo turns into light through leaves. It is the largest piece here and the loudest, made to be seen from a distance first.
